Easter home improvements 'to take place'

As the Easter weekend approaches, Brits are planning to take part in a host of home improvement activities, research from Halifax indicates.

Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager at the financial services provider, explains that home makeover shows on television can make home improvements - which could range from putting up shelves to the installation of kitchen extensions - look quick and easy.

However, he states that this is not the case, adding "we'd recommend using a reputable tradesman rather than going it alone."

Getting a professional in to carry out home improvements may well be the simplest choice as it was suggested that nearly a third (32 per cent) of men feel pressured to carry out DIY work, while more than a third (37 per cent) feel implored to do it by a sense of duty.

Meanwhile, the Town and Country Planning Association recently stated that properties with outside space appeal to people, adding that it is integral to environmental design.
