Britons considering a kitchen extension could find now is a good time to undertake such a project.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal that furniture for kitchens is seeing the smallest growth in prices at the moment.
According to the government body, furniture in general saw the lowest price inflation over the course of March.
Kitchen furniture is singled out as being better value now than a year ago, which could be good news for anyone about to build a kitchen extension.
"A mix of recoveries and sales were observed this year compared with more general price increases a year ago," the ONS reports.
The Daily Telegraph recently noted that a kitchen extension ranks alongside loft conversion as being among the most lucrative improvements which may be made to a home.
According to the publication, a "really fantastic kitchen diner" costs less to install than the value it adds to a house price.
