While sliding glass doors can provide a light and airy atmosphere to a home, they can also offer opportunistic burglars with a means to enter properties.
As such, industry commentator Steven Herman offers advice on how to improve the security of such sliding doors on online resource Oshkosh Northwestern.
He notes that keyed locking devices can be installed on such features to secure the door to its frame.
Mr Herman adds that the door's track clearances can be adjusted to prevent it from being pushed out of its sliding tracks.
Concluding, he suggests that a piece of wood or a metal bar can be placed in the track of a closed door to prevent it from being forced open by a determined would-be intruder.
In related news, NBC 4 recently suggested that anti-lifting devices should be fitted to glass sliding doors to prevent them from being taken off their tracks.
