Conservatory design tips offered

People considering investing in a conservatory have been offered advice on how to make the most of their glazed structure by a sector expert.

Lucy Hall, deputy editor of industry publication BBC Gardener's World Magazine, explains that consumers should aim to use their conservatory to blur the boundary between the main living space offered by their home and the garden.

She suggests that consumers should aim for "plenty of glass" as this will limit the barriers between the internal and external spaces.

With regard to design in the edifice, Ms Hall recommends that people make bold choices.

"Choose a few large striking palms or exotic ferns to bridge the gap visually and look great all year round," she notes.

In related news, research recently carried out by Lloyds TSB Insurance suggests that 15 per cent of people spend between six and seven hours in their garden during the summer months.
