People are likely to spend more on home enhancements - which could well include conservatories - in the future as a result of the current economic climate, it has been suggested.
Jason Orme, editor of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine, explains that consumers may well find that it is not financially viable to move house and as such choose to improve their current living spaces.
He adds that some people may choose to adapt their properties to suit their changing needs, such as a growing family.
"People who haven't been put off having a bigger family... may not be able to move, so therefore the amount of money they are spending on their houses may well increase rather than decrease," Mr Orme suggests.
The news follows the publication of figures from Zurich Insurance from May which suggested that 16 per cent of people who performed DIY on their own had to call in professionals to fix mistakes.
