The best way add value to a property is to create more living space in the form of a conservatory, it has been asserted.
It was suggested that a conservatory could add a total of £12,229 to a home.
Financial services provider GE Money Home Lending states that there are a number of other factors that also play a part in terms of which home improvement will add the most value.
Gerry Bell, head of mortgage marketing at the firm, comments: "Region, type of property and location are all factors which will determine which improvement is best for a particular property, with the creation of extra living space continuing to be the best value improvement."
Meanwhile, Jason Orme, editor of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine, suggested in recent days that people are increasingly likely to spend more on property enhancements in the future as a result of the current economic climate.
