As Brits opt to stay at home for the summer and take advantage of the warmer (if unpredictable) UK summer, many are choosing to turn their gardens into their own little oasis.

A glass structure such as a conservatory or glass canopy can help open up the garden and turn it into a legitimate living space.

John Lewis outdoor buyer Zoe Brady knows a thing or two about furnishing the garden and recommends woven seats.

"There is a real trend towards using the garden as a fifth room for relaxing and entertaining," she is quoted as saying in MetroHome.

"Woven seating ranges are particularly popular. They are made from a high-quality synthetic material ideal for British summers and are waterproof and UV-resistant."

While waterproof furniture may be necessary outside, installing a glass canopy or a conservatory will allow homeowners to enjoy the benefits of their garden, safe in the knowledge that, should the skies open up, their furniture is safe under cover.
